Who is responsible for your information
Binary Glide Limited is the data controller for personal information collected through this website. That means I decide what is collected and why, and I am accountable for it under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What I collect
When you use the contact form
The form asks for your name, email address, company (optional), and a description of what you would like to talk about. That last field is free text, so whatever you choose to put in it is what I receive. If your enquiry involves anything commercially sensitive, keep it brief here and go into detail once we are talking directly.
When you simply visit
Serving a web page requires your device's IP address and browser user-agent string to be processed in transit. This happens at the network layer, is handled by my hosting provider, and is not used to build any profile of you. There is no analytics package on this site.
What I do not collect
- No analytics, no visitor tracking, no advertising pixels
- No behavioural profiling
- No special category data. Please do not send any through the form
- No payment details. This site takes no payments
Why I process it, and on what legal basis

Where I rely on legitimate interests, I have considered whether that interest is overridden by your rights. Responding to someone who has chosen to contact me, using only the details they gave, is a use they would reasonably expect. You can object at any time. See your rights.
I do not send marketing email. If we begin working together, any correspondence that follows relates to that engagement, not to a mailing list.
Who else is involved
Two organisations are involved in running this website and in getting an enquiry from the form to my inbox:

Your enquiry is not stored in a database. The form submission is validated, checked for automated abuse, converted into an email and delivered. Nothing is written to disk along the way. When it arrives, the only copy is the message in my mailbox.
This notice covers the website. If an enquiry that starts here becomes an engagement, that correspondence becomes part of the ordinary records of the work, held in the usual business systems for email, file storage and accounting, and kept for the periods set out below. What happens inside an engagement is governed by the terms we agree, not by this page.
I do not sell personal information, and I do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. I may disclose information where I am legally required to, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
International transfers
Cloudflare is a US company with a global network, so information may be processed outside the UK. Transfers are covered by Cloudflare's data processing addendum, which incorporates the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Proton is based in Switzerland, which the UK government recognises as providing an adequate level of data protection. No additional safeguards are required for that transfer.
How long I keep it

Cookies and tracking
This site sets no analytics or advertising cookies. There is no tracking to consent to, which is why you are not being asked to dismiss a banner. Two things still get set:
- Cloudflare bot management may set a short-lived cookie (
__cf_bm) to distinguish humans from automated traffic. It is strictly necessary to deliver the site securely, expires within 30 minutes, and is not used for tracking or advertising. - Cloudflare Turnstile, the challenge on the contact form, replaces a conventional CAPTCHA. It does not use cookies for tracking and does not profile you across other websites. It may use browser storage briefly while completing the challenge.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access. Ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you
- Rectification. Have inaccurate information corrected
- Erasure. Ask me to delete it, in certain circumstances
- Restriction. Ask me to limit how I use it
- Portability. Receive it in a structured, machine-readable format
- Objection. Object to processing based on legitimate interests, at any time
Email paul@binaryglide.com to exercise any of these. I will respond within one month, and there is no charge. I may need to confirm who you are first, which, given the main thing I hold is an email thread, usually means replying from the address you wrote from.
Complaints
If you think I have handled your information badly, please tell me first. I would rather know and fix it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at any time.
